Pohjantähti workshops bring Otavamedia’s strategy into everyday actions
The Pohjantähti workshops are a development model for the entire staff at Otavamedia, designed to strengthen change capability, unify operating practices, and implement the company’s strategy in everyday work. The workshops are based on interaction, a shared understanding of the situation, and concrete experiments that support sustainable and proactive business operations.
At Otavamedia, the Pohjantähti concept is a participatory development model and series of workshops for all personnel, aiming to enhance employees’ ability to adapt to change, promote common operating models, and realize the company’s strategy in everyday work. In 2025, six workshops were held.
The starting point of the Pohjantähti workshops is the understanding that sustainable business requires the ability to recognize changes in the operating environment, discuss them openly, and carefully adjust operations.
The work relies on a shared situational overview, interaction, and small, concrete experiments carried out by teams as part of their regular work. The experiments, their goals, and successes are followed through Otavamedia’s internal communication channels and monthly reviews.
Pohjantähti is closely linked to Otavamedia’s strategy. At its core are relevant and truthful content, excellent customer experience, and the utilization of data and technology. The concept’s themes include harmonizing shared tools and practices, purposeful use of artificial intelligence, strengthening data-driven management, and systematic competence development.
Workshop activities support the organization’s ability to operate sustainably and proactively, responding to changes in a way that considers people, the content of the work, and the shared organizational culture.
